It’s a survival strategy, not a marketing scheme. We live in an era of radical accessibility. People feel entitled to every piece of a public figure—their relationships, their flaws, their grocery lists. But mystery is the lifeblood of acting. If the audience knows exactly what I eat for breakfast and who I’m dating, how can they ever fully suspend disbelief when I’m playing a grieving mother or a corporate spy?
